As of midnight, January 1st 2025, Brithdir Mawr Housing Cooperative began another chapter of their journey for social change! We joined them in ceremonialising this moment by inviting our nearest and dearest to come and hold sacred space throughout the night. We shared songs and stories, poetry and music, prayers for 2025 and Brithdir’s new chapter, we drummed and chanted our way up to the stroke of midnight, at which point we fell into silence and darkness. While the rest of the western world called in the new year with explosives and excess, we tried something a little different – the silence we held felt rich and alive, a necessary counter-balance to the system that is trying to unhouse BMHC.
